This week will be our last lecture for this semester. This class was wrap up by Dr Hazrati. This class was only for the recalled of what we have learned for the whole semester. We recalled all the subjects and being given a few tips for our final examination. For the tutor class, it will be our last presentation for Dr Fariza. We will miss her for her kindness in teaching us.
So, I wanna take this special and beautiful moment to thank you for all the help, support and everything throughout the semester. Especially to our tutorial lecturer, Dear Dr. Fariza Khalid.We learned a lot and we are grateful beyond measure for your encouragement and support. I also would like to express my thankfulness for my supportive friends and to all my tutorial classmate. It will be a memorable semester for me and I wish good luck for your final examination. Love you all.
This is week 13 and what we learn during this week lecture is all about Web 2.0 Tools and how it can be use in education. This lecture was held by Dr Hazrati. Web 2.0 is about the social media as a major component that can be use in education such as internet applications which allow sharing and collaboration opportunities to people and help them to express themselves online. Example of Web 2.0 include hosted services (Google Maps), Web applications (Google Docs, Flickr), Video sharing sites (YouTube), wikis (Media Wiki), blogs (WordPress), social networking (Facebook) and many more. There are so many advantages in using web 2.0 such as it available at any time, any place, variety of media. Learners can actively be involved in build the knowledge and can create dynamic learning.
As future teachers, we learn web 2.0 because we will continue to be a 21st century educator for our very important communities which is our students. The use of Web 2.0 Tools to support instruction is vital. The use of Web 2.0 tools is transforming our work and the way we support students in the classroom. As schools bring more technology into their classrooms, teachers will in turn strive to put more technology in their students. They can be used to teach curriculum content, store data, create or edit video, edit photos, collaborate and so on. Now, we as students in university are using ‘MOOC’ for our courses that runs online. So it is true that we cannot run from the rise of technology. We must adapt with it and use it in our learning and teaching process.
Media evaluation is something new that we learn in week 12. Media evaluation is an essential methodology to track the effectiveness of the ad campaign. Media evaluation is very important to ensure that strategy we made in order to know if the media designed with certain goals and objectives has been able to become efficient or not.
Besides, evaluating and assessing the suitability and effectiveness of a form of media. For example,radio and television. Media evaluation is the analysis of media content. It is considered by businesses to be one of the most accelerating vehicles of mass communications research.
Media evaluation process is very important in order to determine what the student is able to see and how the students using their vision. In addition, process of media evaluation will make easier for us to look which medium that is suitable to use in teaching and learning. For example, it can guide teacher to make a decision about the best medium for a given student, such as braille, print, dual media, auditory, tactile or some combination.
In conclusion, we know what is the importance of media evaluation process. Whether the goals and objective are being achieve as what it should be or make other people such as teacher to choose suitable medium in order to use in their teaching and learning with the students.
In week 11, we have been taught about TPACK. What is TPACK? TPACK stands for Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge. It is a theory that was developed to explain the set of knowledge that teachers need to teach their students a subject by using technology. TPACK can be used in classroom by keeping technology. If we understand the function of TPACK, we can use technology into the content and pedagogy in our teaching. This will help our students learning more effectively. First, choose the learning outcomes that we will be working on that day or during that class session. The learning outcomes will become the content. The second step is choosing an activity type. The activity type is the pedagogy or how are the students going to learn the content. Finally, we can choose technologies that will support the activity type in learning. Last but not least, in becoming a great teacher, we have to combine our knowledge of the subject with our knowledge of how to teach. By using technology, we need to also learn how to combine technology with our content and pedagogy to create an effective learning environment so that it will become fun and interesting.
In this week lecture, we learn about learning theories. Learning theories are an organized set of principles explaining how individuals acquire, retain and recall knowledge. We can understand well on how learning occurs by studying learning theories because we as a future teacher that need to face various kind of students. There are four learning theories which are, behaviorism, cognitivism, connectivism and constructivism. Behaviorism reacts on a principles of "stimulus response" and the behavior caused by operant conditioning and it shaped through the positive and negative reinforcements. The learning process is based on objectively observable changes in behaviour. Other than that, cognitivism focuses on mental process. It shows how people perceive, think, remember, learn and solve problems. Next, Connectivism is actually a newest learning theory it is where people learn and grow by forming connections. Connectivism is a learning theory that explains how Internet technologies have created new opportunities for people to learn and share information across the world and among themselves. Last but not least was constructivism. Constructive theorists found that human beings are unique in their ability to construct unique understandings of their immediate environments and the world beyond them. Every individual experiences life differently based on an immeasurable number of physiological and emotional factors.
In week 9, both lecture and tutorial class were cancelled. But Dr. Fariza had give a task for us to do in MOOC. We need to do prototype learning. Prototype is a system analyst and users generally use a prototype to evaluate a new design to enhance precision. Prototyping serves to provide specifications for a real, working system rather than a theoretical one. Prototype still relevant to be use in teaching and learning because it consists evaluation for to evaluate their students performance. Myself as s teachers will face the task of evaluating appropriate software to aid the learning process. These is to check the good of it in teaching and learning process
A prototype is an average or known as one of the best example of category or concept. Prototypes give a concise representation for entire group of entities. Providing means to anticipate hidden properties and interact with novel stimuli based on their similarity. A prototype learning system is a system of cognitive processes together with their underlying neural structures that enables one to learn a category prototype from a set of exemplars.
A prototype can be in the following forms paper, 3D printing, digital or small model. These prototypes can fall into one of the following area functional, display or a small model. The functional prototype focus on the functions. The display prototype focuses on the looks. The small model combines both and become a smaller version of the final product. The type of prototype to develop must be decided based on the intended purpose of the prototype and the medium of use.
During week 8 lecture. We learn something that also new for me that is Cipher. This lecture was really confusing and hard for me to understand what is Cipher because it is about numbering and alphabet arrangement in order to translate and decode a secret message. Cipher is an algorithm for encrypting and decrypting data. Symmetric key encryption, also known as secret key encryption, depends on how to the use of ciphers, which operate symmetrically. With symmetric algorithms, the same cipher and encryption key are applied to data in the same way, whether the objective is to convert plaintext to ciphertext or ciphertext to plaintext. A cipher transforms data by processing the original data into ciphertext, which should appear to be random data. A cipher uses a system of fixed rules -- an algorithm -- to transform plaintext, a legible message, into ciphertext, an apparently random string of characters. Ciphers can be designed to encrypt or decrypt bits in a stream (stream ciphers), or they can process ciphertext in uniform blocks of a specified number of bits (block ciphers).
Symmetric ciphers are most commonly used to protect the online communications and incorporated into many different network protocols to be used to encrypt exchanges. For example, Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) and TLS use ciphers to encrypt application layer data, especially when used with HTTP Secure (HTTPS). Virtual private networks (VPNs) that connect remote workers or remote branches into corporate networks use protocols with symmetric ciphers to protect data communications. Symmetric ciphers protect data privacy in most Wi-Fi networks, online banking and e-commerce services. Codes and ciphers are different ways to encrypt a message. A code is a method of changing a message by replacing each word with another word that has a different meaning. On the other hand, a cipher converts the message using the cipher's algorithm to transform the data representing the letters and words in the message. There are so many types of cipher such as, Caesar cipher, Atbash cipher and many more.
For this week 7 lecture, we learnt new things about Augmented Reality with our tutor Dr. Fariza Khalid. To be honest, I do not know what is Augmented Reality. So, I'm glad that we learnt it in the lecture. So, what is Augmented Reality? Augmented reality is the technology that expands our physical world, adding layers of digital information onto it. Different from Virtual Reality (VR), AR does not create the whole artificial environments to replace real with a virtual one. AR appears in direct view of an existing environment and adds sounds, videos, graphics to it. A view of the physical real-world environment with superimposed computer-generated images, thus changing the perception of reality, is the AR. Augmented reality (AR) is one of the biggest technology trends right now. AR need to accesses the camera and uses it to detect such as which character you are coloring in the games or book apps, and uses software to re-create the character in 3D character on the screen. One of the most popular ways AR has infiltrated everyday life is through mobile games. In 2016, the AR game such as "Pokémon Go" became a famous game worldwide, with over 100 million estimated users.
Then, AR Technology has made its way to classroom, it seems that it can increasing the engaging and interactive elements in students. One of the simplest way to use AR in education is its introduction in the traditional classroom. Supporting textbook materials with AR examples adds another dimension to the learning process, a process that will become an innovative practical illustrations of complicated concepts. Here’s a simple example of how AR could be utilized in the classroom. By scanning the covers of textbooks, students get a short description of what they re learning. Thus, smarter choices can be made about the selection of learning materials that will be most suited to the task at hand. Augmented reality can make the educational experience be more fun for a young and restless group of people who have gotten used to visual stimulation and interactivity. Students now can explore the lessons and the concepts that they need to review and they can go through the AR demonstration at their own. To sum up this new exciting lesson, teachers could start providing their students with AR-enabled lecture in classroom as it can influence students to explore educational content in real, amazing, interesting and fun.
This week class was held by Dr. Nor Hafizah. We learn about what is gamification. We all are really common to things that we called as a game. Most of us spend more time playing with many types of games. Teenage and kids especially spend more of their leisure time playing with games rather than scrolling their social media or doing other things. Myself also play games during leisure time. I love playing playstation 4 and my favourite game was FIFA. The definition of gamification was a process for integrating game mechanics into something that already exists to motivate participation, engagement and loyalty.
Gamification introduces game design elements to become non-game applications to make them more fun and exciting. It use many elements such as competition, points, achievement, rules of play, status and self-expression to encourage actions through positive feedback. Therefore, we like people better if we're played a game with them because by using that we can have bond and built trust and contrary popular thinking. Games are extremely productive indeed.
Gamification in learning was famous nowadays. In today's generation, gamification has become on of a popular ways to encourage certain behaviour and increase self motivation. To obtain the benefits from gamification, games being allowed to do what games do best, while other teaching to support those lessons. Teachers use the ways of games to influence students' interest and to help students learn the materials in classroom instead of giving lectures in traditional ways that can give bored to students. As a result, teachers use role playing, adapting classic television and many more in classroom.
Tutorial class as usual with Dr. Fariza, we learnt about image authenticity,she teach us how to link URL at the side bar and put in our weebly. Those things that Dr Fariza delivered is the used to give the information on your website as easier viewers click it. Other than that, we also learnt about the various kind of graphic video and animation such as powtoon where we use it to create real animation. Other than that, we also learnt about the skills that needed in shooting a video where how to zoom in and out the objects, how to find the perfect angle and how to focus the object to make the video that we shoot is more interesting and amazing. Lastly, we got a group task that need us to create a short 5 minute video.
In our tutorial class, there was no class that being held but there was only an online classes. We are being asked by Dr. Fariza to do our own curriculum vitae (CV). Honestly, I never do anything such as CV before. The positive part was it was a very great and exciting new knowledge while I am doing my own CV but the worse part is it was too hard for me. But, luckily my classmates help me doing my CV and now I know how to do it. My feedback after I settled my CV was the curriculum vitae is important because for me only ourselves know how good we are. Honestly, it was really great for me personally.
But before I forgot, during my lecture session that was held also on the same week, we learn new things about Graphic and Multimedia. Honestly, I do not know any single things about graphic or media so I was quite sleepy during that moment. The things that I still remember that being taught during the lecture session was about the elements and the principles in designing. There was 5 important elements in designing that is text, audio, video, graphic and also animation. Whereas principles in designing consists contrasts, repetition, alignment and also proximity.
In that lecture, I learn that choosing of background color plays big role in designing. Monochromatic are more suitable for background. Then, color that analogous always stay side by side for supporting details in which it highlights the explanation of the title while complementary is focusing on contrast colors that can be used to stress out the headline or any important information.
The right way in designing can attract the focus of the audience to see and also to hear what we are presenting.
